How To Transfer 35mm Slides to Digital Format

John B recently asked:

I have about 500 family slides that I would like to tfransfer to DVD and digital  media.  I have a HP slide scanner and a DELL 5120 with 2 drives, I have software for the scanner. I can scan the disks but I cannot save for burning to disks. Could I use a Flash Disk? Any help is appreciated.

Best Answer:
The easiest way to transfer your 35mm slides to dvd is to use this 35mm slide scanner and transfer them all to a digital format. Then it is a matter of using your computers dvd burner to make a folder and burn them. It is much easier to use this technology than to fumble around with mulitple programs and accessories.

I dont understand your question. If you can see the files on your computer, click the edit tab, select all, copy, and then create a folder on your desktop. Paste the photos in it. Open your burning software and direct it to this folder.

We have a Visioneer one touch 9420 USB
This scans 35 mm slides and negatives and even film strips to electronic files. Then do whatever you would with them.

There is no need to use a negative film scanner use a ordinary scanner put your film strip on its bed place a high power white colour light on it using emergency lamp or any other an then scan it without disturbing the light, then burn it onto DVD.

    Hi Cecil~

I hope what I have to share will be of help and not a point of confusion for you because I’m using a different scanner.

I’m in the process of scanning about 3,000 slides into JPEG images that I’ll eventually print out and organize in scrapbooks. In the meantime, the scanned images are being stored on DVD(s).

I’m using an Epson Stylus Photo RX620 All-in-One to scan the slides to my HP Pavilion dv5220us Notebook computer hard drive. Once I’ve done that, I use Sonic to transfer the data files to DVD.

Does this help? Or create more questions?

If you have more questions about my process, I’m available at .

    Happy Scanning!
