I recently was given a film scanner and my question is this: does the film from the camera have to be developed in order to view it in this scanner? or can I just scan it in an undeveloped state? It is 35mm color film. Thanks.
Answer: absolutely, the film must be developed in order to see the images. Otherwise it will become exposed and the film will be rendered worthless. Your images will be lost if it is not developed.

Yes, of course. Just as it has always been developed. If you don’t want prints, you can ask for the lab to develop only and they will give you just the negatives for less money
Once you have the negatives, you can scan to your hearts content
YOU DO NOT HAVE TO DEVELOP FILM TO VIEW IT.
You have to develop film to view picture information that is on it.
If you pull it out of the canister after taking the photos,… you can see the film.
All the pictures will be exposed and you will destroy all the work you did but the fact is,…
YOU DON’T HAVE TO DEVELOP FILM TO VIEW FILM.
.
OK to start, and no offense to the poster…but WOW people have gotten dumb in the digital age.
Moving on…yes you do have to have the film processed. Walmart will process the film for you for about $1.76…but that doesn’t include any prints.
